Prospective Junior Transfer Students
Carefully research majors before finalizing the major to which you
apply since transfer admission is major specific. If admitted to a
particular major as a junior transfer student, you
will be expected to graduate with that major. (Note: Transfer students cannot
apply directly to interdisciplinary studies.)
If you have any questions about the minimum courses needed to be considered
for admission to majors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, contact a
phone advisor at (352)392-1521 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday from 8:00-10:00 a.m.
or Wednesday from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Since space is limited and admission is not guaranteed, always apply to more
than one university when you are beginning the transfer application process.
Since the applicant pool is highly competitive, maintain as high a GPA as possible
in order to be most competitive.
Strive to complete required courses for your desired major with minimum grades
of “B” and within the first attempt of the course, avoiding “W’s” when
possible.
Be sure that at least one-half of the required courses for your desired major
are completed by the time you apply for admission.
Have your current institution submit an updated college transcript as soon
as new grades are posted throughout the application process.
Use the 'Statement of Intent' on your transfer application to discuss your
goals and to explain any aspects of your academic background or academic record
that
you
think would
be
helpful to the admissions committee.
Since the AA (Associate of Arts) degree is required for transfers from the
Florida community college system, be sure to apply for the AA degree at the beginning
of your last semester at your current institution. Since you can’t get
an AA degree without meeting the CLAST requirement, be sure you will have met
this requirement as determined by your current institution.
