If not admitted:Thank you for your interest in transferring to the University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). Due to an enrollment reduction mandate by the Florida Board of Governors, beginning in 2008 transfer space has become very limited. As a result of these space limitations, many good students such as yourself may not be admitted. However, an appeals process for applicants who feel their individual circumstances may not have been sufficiently accommodated or addressed in the regular admission process has been developed. The CLAS Transfer Admission Appeals Committee meets regularly after the credentials deadline to review such cases. Only applicants with truly compelling personal, family and/or medical circumstances are encouraged to appeal. If you feel that your denied application should be reviewed by this committee, follow the instructions below and send an e-mail to: transferappeals@advising.ufl.edu Include in your e-mail your full name, UF ID number and e-mail address to be used for correspondence. Submit a personal statement not to exceed one page in length that clearly states your extenuating circumstance(s). Please note that no documentation will be needed or considered at this stage in the appeal process. Upon receipt of your appeal, the CLAS Transfer Admission Appeals Committee will review your request. You will be notified by e-mail regarding the decision and/or if we need for you to provide documentation. Decisions will be sent by e-mail (and won’t be available by phone or on-line) generally within one week after receipt of your appeal. All decisions made by the Appeals Committee are final. Please understand the nature of the appeal process. When you appeal,
you are asking the Committee to make an exception. Although exceptions
are rare, your appeal will be given every consideration possible. Meanwhile,
you should be prepared with an alternative plan (e.g., apply to other
universities; apply to a different major for a future term). Most of
our applicants are good students such as yourself who have admission
offers elsewhere and we certainly don’t want you to miss an opportunity
at another university while waiting to hear about your appeal. So be
sure to continue to explore other options in the meantime. |
