Academic Advising Center

If Not Admitted

Thank you for your interest in transferring to the University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). We sincerely appreciate your interest in the majors in CLAS. Unfortunately, we typically have more applications each year than we have space in the College, particularly for certain majors.

  • If you have been denied admission, we would first suggest you determine the reason you were denied. You should begin by reviewing the minimum criteria needed to be competitive for admission to your preferred major. If you are simply missing courses, we recommend that you enroll in these classes at your current institution and reapply by the deadline for a future term.
  • If your prior grades that are affecting your admission were impacted by serious extenuating circumstances which you can document, we recommend that you discuss the possibility of retroactive drops and/or withdrawals with the institution where these grades were earned. You can then send an updated transcript if your academic record changes and we can re-evaluate your application for admission for the term you applied or you can re-apply for a future term by the deadline.
  • If you want to consider alternative majors in CLAS for which you meet the minimum criteria, we can potentially get your application re-evaluated for a different major for the same term you have applied. Or you can reapply by the deadline for a future term for the new major. Just be aware that if you are admitted to a different major than your original choice, you will be expected to pursue that major to graduation

If your application has been denied and if you have new information (e.g., grade changes, new courses in-progress) or if you want to be considered for a different major, please follow the instructions below.

Use this process for Transfer Appeals only (NOT Freshman Appeals) and only for majors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
