Taking CLEP Exams after Preview:
During your Preview advising session, your advisor will have helped you identify how many CLEP exams you are likely to need and which exams are recommended for your academic goals. You may need to adjust these recommendations if you had accelerated attempts (AP, IB or Dual enrollment) pending.
When to take CLEP exams
- Try to take as many exams as possible BEFORE beginning classes at UF so you can start classes with a more complete knowledge of what you will have credit for.
- If you have already begun your first term, take your CLEP exams early in the term, so they will not interfere with your UF schoolwork (generally, your workload will increase as the semester progresses.)
Where to take CLEP exams
Visit the CLEP web site at www.collegeboard.com/clep/ to find a testing site near you.
- If you still need to take CLEP exams once you return to UF, go to www.at.ufl.edu/clep to sign up for the exams. Students entering Summer B 2002 should finish taking the exams by the beginning of fall term; students entering Fall 2002 must take the exams by the end of the fall semester.
Which CLEP exams to take
- Not all CLEP exams are acceptable for BFTP. If you need to take CLEP exams to meet your BFTP requirements, be sure to select from the
list of approved exams.
You should have discussed the most appropriate exams for your academic goals with your Preview advisor. If you need to take additional CLEP exams after receiving your AP/IB scores or dual enrollment grades, contact the college that offers your major for advice on which exams to take.

The CLEP exams recommended by each college are available at: www.advising.ufl.edu/clep/chart.html .
Although a listing of recommended CLEP exams by UF college appeared in your Preview workbook, the web listing is more up-to-date. Be sure to avoid taking the "Introduction to Educational Psychology" CLEP exam, which Bright Futures has determined will not be acceptable (but was initially listed in the Preview workbook).
Reporting your CLEP scores
To have CLEP scores reported, call (800) 257-9558. These scores must be reported to the Admissions Office at UF.
- Official reports must be sent by the testing service or higher education institution to Office of Admissions, University of Florida, PO Box 114000, Gainesville, FL 32611-4000.
