Internships

Internship opportunities for CLAS students are available in a wide variety of areas including political science, sustainability, social work, marketing, non-profits, communication, and more. Depending on your interests, you may be placed in either Dublin or Galway. You will likely not know which location your internship will be in until after the application deadline and closer to your time of departure for Ireland. This means you must be OK with being in either location when committing to the program. In general, students interested in non-STEM fields are more likely to be placed in Galway while students with interests in fields like computer science, data science, or business areas may be placed in Dublin. However, city placement is not guaranteed. You will submit an internship intake form including a resume and personal statement indicating your interests and skills to our partner in Ireland, Learn International as part of the application process. This will help them find you a placement that best matches your interests, skill, & goals.

You will work approximately 30 hours per week for 10 weeks in a small or medium size company or organization. You will work Monday-Thursday, approximately 7.5 hours per day. Up to two days may be remote work in a central, co-working space. However, some placements may require that you be in-office all four days. Fridays are scheduled for excursions, lectures, and other activities related to the Global Culture Course. Weekends are generally free.
