Thank you for your interest in participating in the Spring 2024 excursion to Washington, DC from Monday, May 13 – Friday, May 17 with Beyond120 and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service. This opportunity is open to all students with a major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and requires students to be in good academic standing to participate. Beyond120 excursions are designed to expose undergraduate students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to various professions and companies outside of Gainesville. We welcome students from a variety of interests, at any stage in their UF education who display professionalism and commitment to their academic and professional growth to apply. This excursion is open to 20 students and 4 student leaders. The deadline to apply is Sunday, February 18, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

Overview

In partnership with the Beyond120 program and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, this excursion will expose students to industries related to public policy, government relations, law, education, international relations, public sector and more. Students will meet with UF alumni and special guests through networking activities, meet-n-greets, admissions sessions, and panel discussions.

Site Visits

Past excursions have included site visits to the World Bank, UF Federal Relations, Ferrero Rocher, Library of Congress, US Chamber of Commerce, Georgetown Law and the United States Capitol. Students on this year’s excursion can expect to attend a UF Alumni Networking event and will engage with a number of similar entities as those listed above.

Cost

Students are responsible for the cost of transportation to Washington, D.C. The program sponsors will be covering the costs of lodging, transportation while in DC, site visit expenses, and some meals. Students are responsible for any additional costs, including souvenirs, some meals, and snacks. Depending on how much you pay for your plane ticket, we estimate you will spend $300-400 for the trip in its entirety.

Eligibility

  • Must have a major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Must be in good academic standing at the University of Florida.
  • Must be a UF degree-seeking student.
  • 2.0 UF GPA.
