2023-2024 Spring Excursion

Beyond120 in Atlanta, GA—Spring Excursion 2024
March 11 – March 15, 2024

This excursion to Atlanta, GA was focused on large corporations from a broad range of industries and career pathways within the Atlanta region. In addition to site visits, the schedule incorporated leisure activities.

2022-2023 Academic Year Excursions

Summer Excursion Washington, D.C.

In partnership with the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, this excursion exposed students to industries related to public policy, government, law, education, international relations, criminal justice, and more. Students met with UF alumni and special guests through networking activities, meet-n-greets, admissions sessions, and panel discussions.

Beyond120 in Oaxaca

Beyond120 in Oaxaca took place May 6 – May 14, 2023.

Spring Excursion: A Day with Scripps Biomedical Research

On March 10, 2023, Beyond120 students attended an exciting day of activities with world-leading biomedical innovators at the Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation in Jupiter, FL. Activities included lab tours, research presentations, opportunities to meet faculty and learn about exclusive internships, and more. The Jupiter, Florida campus was established by Scripps Research, an organization which the scientific journal Nature has rated as the most influential research institution in the world. Scripps faculty and the students in their graduate programs work at the cutting edge of a variety of fields within the biological and medical sciences. Since officially becoming a part of the University of Florida, UF Scripps is looking to provide more research opportunities for Florida students and is opening their doors through this excursion to all CLAS students interested in discovering what the Scripps Jupiter campus has to offer!

Beyond120 Washington, DC, Excursion

Partnering with the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, from May 9-13 we took 20 students to the capitol to immerse them in the world of public service and civic-oriented careers. During this trip, students met members of congress, journalists, congressional staff, graduate programs, businesses, and organizations like the World Bank to cultivate a clearer vision of their career trajectories in public service.

Beyond120 Atlanta Spring Excursion

From March 8-12, we took 14 students to Atlanta to learn about various businesses and industries in the area. The students met with alumni and business leaders and learned about career pathways they never would have imagined before.

FBI Excursion

On March 25, we took 16 students to the FBI Field Office in Tampa to learn about career opportunities in the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“I always knew I wanted to go into the foreign service but I never knew which department I actually wanted to go into. So coming to the FBI really opened my mind to new opportunities, especially in the FBI as well as what I can do to contribute to my country.”

Beyond120 in Oaxaca Pre-Health Excursion: Realities of Health Access & Inequities

From April 30-May 8 we took 10 students to Oaxaca, Mexico on a pre-health excursion. Students shadowed in local public clinics and improved their medical Spanish skills. The students also participated in lectures and activities related to social determinants of health and health systems as well as healthcare disparities.
