About the Aac

Mission

As educators, we provide perspective, knowledge, and resources for students to help them navigate higher education, reflect on goals and values, and take purposeful action in pursuit of their degrees. We continuously improve our advising and teaching practice through professional development, innovation, and assessment.

  1. Maximize student access to advising services.
  2. Prioritize our advising resources for maximum impact.
  3. Provide opportunities and resources for training and professional development of all AAC personnel.
  4. Create connections across our community.

Values

  • Connection: We foster positive relationships with students and the broader community. We create a welcoming, supportive environment that appreciates the wide range of individual lived experiences, needs, and perspectives.
  • Empowerment: We challenge students to be actively engaged in their education through curricular and experiential learning. We support students in the development of thoughtful decision-making grounded in self-reflection.
  • Education: We teach students to navigate the complex environment of higher education to achieve their goals. We treat advising as an opportunity to both teach and learn from our students.
  • Integrity: In pursuit of excellence, we hold ourselves accountable and are honest and transparent with students, campus partners, and colleagues. We act intentionally and ethically in accordance with sound judgment developed through reflective practice.
