The University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Science offers students the opportunity to study at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Students may choose to participate in the exchange for the Fall semester, Spring Semester, or the whole academic year. Young and research intensive, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) has 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students in engineering, business, science, humanities, arts, social sciences, education and medicine. Besides being reputed as one of the world’s most beautiful campuses, the NTU Smart Campus is a living testbed of tomorrow’s technologies and a model of sustainability, with 95% of its campus buildings Green-Mark certified. NTU also leads the way in Singapore, with eight Zero-Energy Buildings, the most amongst all organizations in Singapore.

Requirements/Eligibility

  • Open to all majors (Computer Science courses not available).
  • Languages of Instruction: English.
  • Required GPA: 3.0.
  • Official Transcript.
  • Students must have completed two semesters of coursework at the University of Florida prior to attending NTU.
  • Each applicant must be nominated by the University of Florida and then apply to the exchange partner as an international exchange student.

Available Courses: Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Chinese, Communication, Data Science, Economics, English, History, Linguistics, Math, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology

Restricted Courses: Computer Science and courses listed on the restricted course list.

Students typically take 3 to 5 courses per semester based on 3 or 4 AUs per course (subject to their home university’s and NTU’s approval). The maximum workload allowed is 6 courses or 20 AUs per semester.

Course offerings will only be published in May and November (for Semester 1 and 2, respectively). Use the previous year’s courses offered as a reference.

Tuition

Tuition at the host school is waived for exchange students. Students participating in an exchange pay tuition directly to the University of Florida at their usual tuition rate. All financial aid, scholarships, and fellowships are applicable. Students incur no additional tuition cost while they are on an exchange.

Housing

Students interested in on-campus housing are encouraged to submit a separate online housing application as soon as it opens. The provision of on-campus housing is NOT guaranteed due to limited spaces. Students must submit their campus housing application before the stipulated deadline to be considered for on-campus housing. Allocations are done randomly through a computer balloting exercise and is subject to availability. For more details, see the NTU Housing website.

Financial Aid

University of Florida students needing financial aid should apply through UF Student Financial Affairs. Normal eligibility for aid may be used while studying abroad as an exchange student. This includes using the Bright Futures scholarship and the Florida Pre-Paid College Plan.

Scholarships

For fall, spring, and academic-year scholarships administered by the University of Florida International Center, the deadlines for application are: early March for programs starting in fall; and early October for programs starting in spring. Insurance

ALL exchange students must subscribe to the mandatory NTU student insurance schemes, even if they are covered under their own insurance from their home country. Learn more about the NTU student insurance schemes. The insurance premiums are incorporated within the compulsory miscellaneous fees.

Fees

A $425 non-refundable administrative charge is assessed for students participating in single semester or Academic Year programs. (The $425 fee is refundable if student is not accepted to the program). This charge is due within 21 days of the application. Students will be charged regular UF tuition while participating in the program.

Visa and Work Requirements

You are required to hold a valid Student’s Pass (STP) issued by the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for the duration of your program.

You will be guided through the process for the application of the STP after you accept NTU’s Offer. We recommend arranging your travel plans only after the STP application is approved. Exchange students holding the STP are not allowed to engage in work activities, whether paid or unpaid, for the entire duration of the immersion period.
