Instructions:
- Download the form (PDF, 673 KB).
- Complete the form.
- Select the reason.
- Meet with the appropriate advisor to discuss your reason for petitioning.
- College Advisor and/or Major Advisor
- IA Advisor
- Include a one-page (10 point or 12 point font) personal statement.
- Obtain documentation (if applicable).
- Complete the Course Request Form (CLAS courses only).
- Complete the Graduation Plan (if required)
- Upload the completed IA Petition packet to the CLAS-IA Dropbox by the deadlines listed below.
- Petitions are NOT accepted after the last meeting in July.
Commonly Requested NON-CLAS Courses not approved by CLAS-IA Petitions (Contact the appropriate colleges that teach the course.)
- APK2100C & APK2105C – College of Health and Human Performance
- ASL1110 & ASL 1120 – College of Public Health and Health Professions, Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences
- BCH4024 – College of Medicine
- MCB3020 & MCB3020L – College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Microbiology and Cell Science Department
Notes:
- The IA Petitions Committee will begin accepting the petition packets starting April 1, 2024, at the CLAS-IA Dropbox.
- Petition packets will be reviewed after the advance registration period has ended, usually toward the end of April.
- Meetings are held every other week beginning. (See below for submission deadlines and meeting dates.)
- Results are e-mailed to the student’s ufl.edu e-mail. (See below for the dates decisions are e-mailed)
- If approved, you will be enrolled in the requested course(s) if/when a seat is available. This could be as late as the last business day in July.
- Seats are not guaranteed (even if the petition is approved).
- If enrolled, you are not permitted to schedule adjust AND you may not request a schedule adjustment.
- You will receive an e-mail upon placement into approved requested courses.
- Petitions are NOT accepted after the last meeting in July.
