Genetic Counseling
Genetic counselors are healthcare professionals with specialized graduate training in the areas of medical genetics and counseling. Genetic counselors usually work as members of a healthcare team, providing information and support to families who have members with birth defects or genetic disorders and to families who may be at risk for a variety of inherited conditions.

- UF does not currently have a specific undergraduate program for Genetic Counseling
- You may choose ANY major and go on to a genetic counseling program. Choose a major based on your own personal interests and strengths. It doesn’t need to be a science major- majors in the social sciences or humanities are just fine if you take the prerequisite courses.
- You are encouraged to meet with a pre-health advisor to discuss the prerequisite courses that should be included in your plan of study
