Athletic Training

“Athletic Trainers (ATs) are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by ATs comprise prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.” (CAATE)

“Athletic Trainers (ATs) are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Students who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum. Accredited programs include formal instruction in areas such as injury/illness prevention, first aid and emergency care, assessment of injury/illness, human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic modalities, and nutrition. Classroom learning is enhanced through clinical education experiences.” (NATA)

  • Undergraduate
    • UF does not currently have a specific undergraduate program for Athletic Training.
    • While there are a number of majors that may fit the requirements for application and admissions to Athletic Training programs, Applied Physiology and Kinesiology meets all of the standards set forth by CAATE.
    • You are encouraged to meet with an APK advisor to discuss the prerequisite courses that should be included in your plan of study
  • Graduate
    • UF does not currently have a specific Master’s program for Athletic Training.
    • You are encouraged to navigate the school directories to search for graduate programs
    • UF does currently have a Doctor of Athletic Training Program
      • This program of study can be pursued once a degree in Athletic Training has been obtained and your Board Certification has been completed
