CLAS Transfer Student FAQs

Is attendance to Transfer Preview (Orientation) mandatory? Yes. Students are required to attend in person. You meet with your college advisor and your department advisor that day and register for your classes on the day of your Transfer Preview. Not attending means, you will not be able to enroll in courses for the term you start at UF. If there are circumstances that prevent you from attending Transfer Preview, you may contact transferappeals@advising.ufl.edu.
What requirements would have been satisfied, if I have transferred with an AA degree from a public State of Florida college or university?
  • The following requirements for the University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) will be met:
    • State Core General Education
    • UF Quest Requirement
    • Gen Ed Mathematics
    • Gen Ed Diversity & Gen Ed International
    • Writing Requirement
    • Summer Requirement
    • Civic Literacy Requirement
  • Additional requirements may be evaluated via an appointment with a CLAS advisor, once you have received an offer of admission to a CLAS major.
How do I prepare for Transfer Preview?
  • Create your Gatorlink account and review your new UFL.EDU e-mail regularly.
  • Attend the remote CLAS Pre-Orientation Workshops I & II.
  • Check to see you have been enrolled in the CLAS Transfer Transition Canvas course at https://elearning.ufl.edu/.
  • Complete the Pre-Orientation Steps in the CLAS Transfer Transition Canvas course.
What does the Transfer Preview Day look like?
  • Welcome
  • Introduction UF resources (financial aid, campus security, student involvement, etc.)
  • CLAS Presentation (all CLAS majors)
  • Department (major) advising
  • Register on your own after meeting your department advisor
How do I find out what the University of Florida equivalency is for the courses I completed at a non-Florida or private Florida college or university?
Do I have to complete foreign language courses at UF for CLAS?
Yes.Unless you have one of the following:
• AP Score of 3 or higher
• IB Score of 4 or higher
• AICE Foreign language exam score A-E
• Completion of a 1st year language (8 credits or higher) at the college level. (minimum grade of C)
How else can I satisfy this requirement at UF?• FLPE proficiency test, if you feel you are fluent in a foreign language.
• Completion of a 1st year language sequence with minimum grades of C. (Generally 2 semesters 8-10 credits)
When do I register for classes?
  • You will register for classes on the day of your Transfer Preview.
